Waiting for my brother…

37 weeks, 6 days

The sun shining brightly on a Sunday morning, the drive to Natural Beginnings Birthing Center smooth, through the farm roads. Tomatoes growing in abundance on each side. I pull into the parking lot, grab my bag. As I walk up, I see him holding his oldest son, this is big brother with the most adorable smile on his face. We walk inside to the dim room, with Mama in the birthing tub breathing gently with her head covered by a blanket. White noise. Water beside her, fan blowing, her Midwife watching her every movement. Her Husband soothes her one minute and plays with their son the next. Big brother listens to his Mama’s moans with an observant eye while being reassured that everything is alright by his Papa. Kisses shared. His laughter fills the room…
